Can I tape up a leak in my gas tank fill hose?
I have a '96 Ford E250 and there's a small leak from the gas line when I fill up. My mechanic said it was about $200 to fix but it seems so minor that maybe I can do it myself. Mechanic just replaced the fuel pump maybe a month ago so it's not a fuel tank leak, I can see it dripping when I'm at the gas station. Any special tape I can use or any other suggestions?

Depending upon the type of van you have you willl have to replace the hose, and possibly the filler(the metal part) also, it is a common problem, I would take it back to the mechanic that did the tank and tell them to fix it they would have to had to remove it to drop the tank to get the fuel pump out. There is not a tape that is know to man that wil hold up to gas, most wont last a couple minutes a few will make it month. If you can get your hand in there to do it more power to you. It may be possible to clamp a sleeve over the area which has the whole but that may be as much work if not more then replacing it. The hose is molded and really cannot be replaced with a cheap piece of hose.
