Is it ok to use normal gun oil on a break barrel pellet gun?
the website says to only use a special silicone based oil but i think their just sayin that so you'll by it from them
Nope, that is not the reason. The reason is that petroleum based oils will ignite under the high temperatures that are generated by the compressed air. You may not realize it but when air is compressed, its temperature rises significantly. These high pressures cause petroleum based oils to ignite. This is called dieseling. It is the same principal as that used by diesel engines. When the oil ignites, or diesels, it generated pressures in excess of those for which the air gun is designed. This can often result in the barrel exploding and injuring the shooter. Therefore, use only oil that is specifically designated as air gun oil and then use it sparingly. You do not want to leave a heavy oil film in your bore.
