My husband and I were invited to a paintball party about a year ago; we looked at each other and asked what in the world a paintball party is? I thought the couple that invited us were going to paint their house and wanted help. We have been invited to many of those and were a lot of fun. But this party was for the entire weekend and we need to get the right gear for it. So we did some research and found out a few interesting things about paint ball parties.
The invitation stated that we would need equipment but do not buy a lot because they had some of their own. They had the paintball guns, the guns that shoot the paint out towards its target. Some come with scopes, short barrels, long barrels, stands and cases for the guns. Pretty interesting, because I have always been a good shot when it came to guns.
They said to wear our own clothes, ones that are old and tattered as they will be sprayed with paint. Sounds good so far, they did state though long sleeves would be better than short sleeves, again due to the paint. Padding is a good idea as well because when the paint hits you it hurts. Well, I was losing interest because I do not like to be hurt. But my husband said let’s try it and so we did.
Our friends live out in the country where there are many trees and places to hide. We arrived late that Friday night and were greeted with a lot of other people there as well. We were introduced and proceeded to have a lovely time. Then came Saturday morning and off we went. We were given our own paintball gun, the color of paint we liked and off to the forest we went. It was all set up and the games began.
I found out the object of the game is to hit the target, preferably a moving one such as my husband. The gun shoots out small paint balls, just aim and shoot. I had a ball. This is a great way to take all your aggravations out and not really hurt anyone. They just sting a bit, but not for long. You run to hide from your opponent and even jump up and down to miss the paint ball heading your way.
Who ever is hit the most with the paint balls loses the game. Well my dear husband lost this round, I kept hitting him and he kept missing me. I didn’t win but I was better off than he was. The more obstacles there are the more fun it is. Needless to say I had a ball that weekend and wanted to do it again.
So our weekend of a paintball party was great, although I do not think my husband will go again. I will it was fun; we got outside for awhile and met a lot of really nice people. So go if you are invited or have one of your own. Be sure to abide by the rules and be safe.
